Play the Bb clarinet down a half step. If you are playing a C on an A clarinet you would have to play a B on Bb clarinet to compensate that half step. Unless you are playing in front of an orchestra you can play the part on a Bb clarinet with piano. The tuning on this instrument is excellent, and can blend very well. The clarinet is very in tune in the clarion and altimisso register, and as others have noted before, thrives in this upper range. The Vandoren series 13 mouthpieces have slightly deeper baffles and other adjustments that make them play around A=440. In the Reserve line of mouthpieces, the ones marked "E" (for European) tend to play at about A = 442 and the regular ones tune a bit lower, around A = 440.
